Kristol Still Wrong; Bush Wronger

To follow up on my post from a while ago entitled “William Kristol is Always Wrong“, I note that Howard Kurtz’s Washington Post column yesterday detailed how President Bush recommended Kristol’s ridiculous op-ed to his staff.

So, even though Bush’s policies vis-á-vis Iraq are disastrous, and everyone knows it, he latches on to the sycophantic writings of Bill Kristol, and encourages his people to do the same. You know, Lincoln chose to surround himself with his political opponents, even appointing them to be in his cabinet. He felt he would receive more honest, straightforward advice that way. Just a thought.

Chalky

ChalkyMrs. Hill took her parents and sister to the Webster Flea Market yesterday and had a bad time.  But she also did a good deed.

A family of flea market people–they’re their own kind–had a box truck, and in the back was a hungry and thirsty looking cat.  Miriam told the a little girl who appeared to be the animal’s owner that the kitty should get some water.  The people then offered to sell Miriam the kitty.  She called me and asked what she thought I should do and I told her we cannot have people abuse a poor animal.  And it was, in fact, abuse, since the little girl, in trying to sell Miriam on the cat, explained that if they kitty was bad she should hit it, and proceeded to demonstrate.

In the end, Miriam was given the cat for free, and when she arrived home with “Chalky”, the kitty was on her lap, purring away.  She is a very, very sweet cat.

Of course, Moggie ranks highest in my esteem, and she is not fond of other cats, so Chalky cannot stay.  If you, or someone trustworthy you know would like to have a loving and affectionate, litterbox-trained female cat who purrs loudly non-stop and wants to rub her face on your face, please let us know.

Drain Pro Rules!

Drain Pro Rules! This house of ours is fine in most respects.  We have no leaks, no substantial electrical problems, our A/C works, and so on.  But once in a while a drain gets a fierce clog.  The ones in the bathroom sink are easy to fix.  The ones in the tub and in the kitchen are much worse.  We’ve had one of the former for at least a month now, and I my efforts at combating it were largely unsuccessful, until I got Drain Pro.

Its pure chemical goodness destroys all clogs with ease.  I would have used it sooner, but the only place I know that carries it, Wal-Mart, didn’t have any.  Wal-Mart is not a place I like to shop for a variety of reasons, and I prefer to avoid chemicals if I can, but I couldn’t get to this clog with my tools, and nobody else has Drain Pro, so to Wal-Mart I went.

After pouring just 1/4 of a bottle down the drain in the tub, the clog was clear, and so was my mind, since standing in water while I shower had become a headache to me.  Huzzah, Drain Pro!
