Thundercrack

Last night was my ethics class’s final session. I am a bit sad to see it end; the professor was so entertaining, and the students were so engaged that it was always interesting. I am going to attempt to take another of Dr. Smillov’s courses, provided that my financial aid comes through. He teaches Logic, which sounds enticing.

Miriam had to drop me off at school last night, and as I was waiting for her to pick me up I could hear distant thunder. By the time she arrived the clouds were ominous and black. It was raining by the time we stopped at the Publix at 39th Avenue and 13th Street, and it was pouring by the time I ran out to the car. When we pulled into our driveway the lightning was so frequent and so close that we were afraid to run the ten feet to our door. We did it eventually, but it was frightening. Less frightened, it seems, was Riley, who we spotted splashing in the street, unafraid of the lightning. The claps of thunder and the flashes of light were simultaneous. It was one of the worst electrical storms I have experienced in a long time.
