RICHMOND – When the sun rose this morning I was in Gainesville.  I was standing in front of the capitol of Virginia when it set this evening, enjoying a beautifully landscaped park teeming with birds and squirrels, having only an hour before been looking at priceless first editions and handwritten manuscripts by Edgar Allen Poe.  As I write this I am concluding the first day of a five-day vacation that will take us to five states and the District of Columbia.  So far, so good.
